Musings on A Cold

I have a cold.  This is my second one this winter and it has brought to mind some random thoughts.
  1. How does one little head hold that much mucus.  Sorry to dive right into the gross, but seriously how can my head hold that much stuff.  It's like a never ending supply.  Yuck!!!
  2. Can anyone actually open those frickin' Dayquil or Nyquil capsule packs without grabbing the scissors?  In my weakened condition, I couldn't even make a dent.  I realize things must be childproof, but adultproof makes me crazy.
  3. When you have a cold, there is NO tissue soft enough. Just a fact.
  4. Is it "Starve a cold, feed a fever" or "Feed a cold, starve a fever"?  Just wondering, cause I sure was hungry.
  5. We had a unbelievable cold snap up here in Michigan.  I keep turning the heat up and my house is still freezing.  This does not help cure a cold.
  6. Nor does the daily shoveling we have going on up here.  Every night we get another dusting and another layer to scrape off.
  7. I'm so done with Winter....let's bring on an early Spring
All done.

  2. Sure hope you feel better soon! I keep my eye out at the thrift store for nice soft men's hankies- the old fashioned plaid kind. They are so much nicer to our noses than any tissues I've found. In the summer I carry one in my pocket when I garden to wipe my brow or to wipe my hands off on. Take care.

  3. Hi Lindalou,

I remember Michigan winters being very brutal....hang in there!

You even have a sense of humor when you are sick. Your list made me chuckle. :)

    Try the liquid nyquil.
Some people have reccomended a neti pot for their sinuses. I haven't tried it YET but I will if I am desperate enough. They are sold in drugstores here. ( And I don't mean Pot....as in grass...weed.)

  4. When I have a cold, I like to use Puffs Plus with lotion. It's a really soft tissue.
