Card of the Week

One of the "cardmaker" blogs I visit on a regular basis is Paper Cutting Kind of Day.  It's Linda's blog and she makes some amazing cards.  What I like best, is that she explains what she does and shares some of her favorite techniques and products.  Plus, she most graciously answers my questions.  I learn something every time I visit.  Without knowing it,she frequently sends me to the store to pick up some other card making tool.  I can't help it, I just love what she does and then I want to do it too.

She makes cards for Pink Persimmon and they are having a sketch this week and since it's on Linda's blog I really must submit a card.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my interpretation:

It's also Dr. GaGa's Birthday card.  (See, he was walking around the office the other week singing a Lady GaGa song....and the next thing you know, he has a new nickname. You got to love that about him.)

Thanks Linda for hosting this fun sketch.

  1. I love what you did with the sketch and the way you linked it is perfect! What would us scrappers and cardmakers do if we didn't encourage and enable each other!!!

  2. oh, that's fun that you guys start with a sketch and interpret! The card is lovely! I can't tell, but is it actually stiched around the edges or made to look it?

  3. Wendy,

It's just made to look like its stitched. I use a white pen to make the stitching marks. Some cardmakers do use sewing machines on their cards. I don't have a sewing machine so I fake it. It's actually a technique I learned kwernerdesign blog. She does videos on her cards and I learn a lot from her too.

  4. Beautiful card!

Do you visit Yogi's blog? She, too, is most generous with her "how-to's". Go by if you haven't- I think you'll like it!

  6. I wondered about the stitching, too. Dr. GaGa must have been pleased with the card...it's very nice.

  7. Donna,
He hasn't gotten the card yet. We are celebrating all the February B-days on Sunday with a Pancake Breakfast.
